In the mountains of China or in the Philippines it is harvested by hand and dried in the sun. It has an anise-like scent but has a sweet flavor with faint notes of licorice with a pleasantly fresh aftertaste. A "puff" on the classic soup d'ognon gives a touch of novelty. Great on seafood and fish. Suitable for sweet and dry pastry but also on taralli. In cocktails it is accompanied by excellent vodka in Americano and in rum punch.
